Research

VIVAMAR performs research on the use of habitat (living space) of dolphin species bottlenose doplhin (Tursiops truncatus) in Bay of Trieste and nearby waters. It tries to find out which locations in environment are important for the dolphins and why. Defining the factors that affect dolphins in any way is important, because this is the only way that we can directly reduce the negative influences on dolphins and at the same time consecrate more (ecologicly-sustainable) attention to the areas where dolphins are more likely to be present. VIVAMAR does it's best to publish gathered information and to mediate them to suitable institutions that have more social influence or possibly obligations on the state's level for making action plans for perservation of these animals. VIVAMAR also provides informations to the society, starting with children, with aim to support the right preception/relations of people towards the sea environment and subsequently with the dolphins.
